Riva del Garda

Travelling along Lake Garda from north to south, a succession of localities with stunning views overlooking the lake can be seen. The northern part of the lake includes the towns of Riva del Garda, Torbole and Arco Lido, which are particularly suitable for water sports such as sailing and windsurfing. Heading south there is the Riviera degli Olivi with its picturesque bays and beaches as well as villages and castles. Then there is Peschiera del Garda, passing Garda and Bardolino on the way. Continuing on towards Sirmione, an important spa centre, there are the towns of Desenzano, Lonato, Padenghe and Pozzolengo. Going back towards the north there are the hilly landscapes that characterise the towns of Salò, Gardone Riviera, Toscolano Maderno, Gargnano, Tignale, Tremosine, Magasa, Valvestino and Limone sul Garda, known for its citrus groves, full of the smells and flavours that are typical of this area.

Museo del TurismoA tour around the lake to discover museums, municipal collections and permanent exhibitions. The collections, spread all over the area around Lake Garda, mainly concern two historical subjects: the prehistory and ancient Roman history, in particular the early Middle Ages, and the Risorgimento period during which many significant fights and battles took place in the inland around Lake Garda. A more recent addition are the newly created museums concerning the tangible civilization of fishing, oil and wine.

Il Vittoriale degli Italiani visto dall'altoIt is well known that Lake Garda is an area rich in historical and artistic treasures: the villas and palaces that rise on the hills and overlook the waters of the lake are indeed numerous. Starting from Villa Brentoni, an ancient dwelling located on the tip of the Verona side of the lake, in an area called Punta San Vigilio known for the beauty and colour of its waters, through the small towns of the area, there is a vast number of villas and ancient buildings. It would be impossible not to visit, among others, the famous Vittoriale degli Italiani, the famous monumental village in Gardone Riviera, designed by Gabriele D'Annunzio, within which there are squares, theatres, gardens and waterways.
